The Dream Gream program by Han Sung Motor takes off once again— a launchpad for emerging artists stepping onto the runway of their creative journey.

The group exhibition 〈2025 ON BOARDING〉, held on the second floor of the Kumho Museum of Art, presents the names of five young artists embarking on their first official flight into the orbit of art.

Each of them has been nurtured through Dream Gream’s incubating program, which supports promising new voices in contemporary art.

The exhibition marks a collective yet individual “first voyage,” where five artists chart their own emotional and visual territories.

- Lee Sangwon visualizes subtle emotional textures found in everyday life, capturing the rhythm hidden within the ordinary.

- Shin Jisoo translates the residue of emotion into painterly structures, exploring the boundary of perception.

- Wip Jiyu transforms bodily memory and spatial sensation into experimental objects that trace the presence of being.

- Lee Dain weaves the passage of time through the interplay of material and light.

- Lee Hyejun, and her creation Pengbok, travel through a dreamlike world where the colors of emotion are reborn.

Pengbok: Setting Out to Find the Colors of Emotion

Lee Hyejun’s work captures the moment Pengbok arrives at her own version of paradise — a place called Mureungdowon.

Pengbok was once a penguin living in Antarctica, surrounded by an endless white world. One day, seeing the colorful jacket of an explorer, she realizes: “There are colors I never knew existed.”

That small realization sets her off on a long journey— a search for new colors, new landscapes, and new sensations. At the end of this odyssey, she is reborn as Pengbok— a fusion of penguin and peach (penguin + bok).

This work portrays Pengbok swimming peacefully within that imagined utopia. Lee uses the wash and diffusion of traditional ink painting as a language of emotion. The slow seep of ink into silk mirrors Pengbok’s awakening journey— her emergence from the white void of Antarctica toward a world of color and feeling.

Unexpected motifs like palm trees and seashells, rarely seen in traditional ink landscapes, appear as traces of Pengbok’s encounters with the unfamiliar during her travels. They function as both symbols of discovery and bridges between reality and fantasy.

In Lee’s universe, Pengbok becomes a gentle wanderer— a creature that drifts through paradise to retrieve the colors and emotions we may have lost along the way. Through her, the boundary between dream and reality grows soft, inviting viewers to rediscover the hues of their own inner worlds.

Exhibition Overview

〈2025 ON BOARDING〉 is more than just a group show— it is a declaration of beginnings.

Since 2012, Dream Gream has evolved from an educational sponsorship project into a sustainable mentorship ecosystem for emerging artists, bridging creativity, growth, and opportunity.

This exhibition documents the latest chapter in that journey.

Through mentoring, production support, and professional networking, the five artists explore what it means to truly “become” an artist within an institutional framework.

The destination is still unknown— but what’s certain is that this journey already carries the future of art within it. This fall at the Kumho Museum of Art, five trajectories converge on a single platform.
