Introduction: An Artistic Bridge Between Cultures

YEATU is thrilled to co-host a special event for our community: "New Horizon - The Mind Flows," the first solo exhibition in Japan by acclaimed Korean artist Lee Yoonjung, in collaboration with Gallery Ueda. This exhibition showcases 18 unique works centered on the theme "Wind and Hope," each piece embodying Lee’s distinct vision of freedom and exploration through her iconic imagery of paper airplanes drifting in soft, serene landscapes.

Where and When

This exhibition was held from October 21 to October 26, 2024, at Gallery Ueda, located in Ginza, Tokyo’s prestigious art district. The gallery is open to the public from 11:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with a special closing time of 5:00 PM on the final day. Admission was free, allowing everyone a chance to experience this mesmerizing collection.

About Lee Yoonjung and Her Signature Style

Lee Yoonjung’s works are celebrated for their recurring motifs of floating paper airplanes, which she uses to represent the freedom and dreams of human imagination. Born in Korea and majored in Western painting at Suwon University, she is known for her vivid landscapes that blend soft colors and thoughtful details, creating tranquil scenes filled with subtle optimism. Based in Seoul, Lee has exhibited widely and engaged in diverse artistic endeavors, from corporate art commissions to collaborations with well-known media platforms. Notably, she contributed artwork for the Netflix drama "Remarriage & Desires" in 2022.

Career Highlights and Public Collections

Lee’s notable achievements include a solo exhibition on Korea Day at the Expo Milano 2015 and participation in Naver’s "On Stage X" event in 2019. Her works are held in public collections such as the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Seoul Eastern District Court, and Ansan City Hall, marking her as an influential presence in contemporary Korean art.
