Jeong Woobin Solo Exhibition One-Room Rhapsody: A Song of Liberation Born in Confinement
Exhibition Overview
From September 3 to 28, 2025, CASE Seoul (@case_seoul) in Jangwi-dong presents Jeong Woobin’s solo exhibition One-Room Rhapsody. Curated and written by Kichan Yang (@yang_kichan), this marks the 18th CASE project hosted by the gallery.
The Meaning Behind the Title
The term Rhapsody traces back to the ancient Greek Rhapsode—a bard whose art was rooted in improvisation and hybrid expression rather than fixed musical form.
Here, however, the word is prefaced by “One-Room”. This seemingly ordinary phrase invokes the imagery of narrow, confined living quarters—spaces marked by limitation and social constraint. In this context, One-Room Rhapsody becomes a poignant exploration of the human desire for liberation within restriction.

Inside the Exhibition
Jeong’s paintings capture the restless imagination and gestures that extend beyond physical boundaries. The “one-room” functions not merely as a metaphor for suffocating reality but as a stage that provokes a more urgent, unyielding artistic impulse. His canvases, layered with improvisational energy, translate into a rhythm of liberation offered to the viewer.
A Message to the Audience

One-Room Rhapsody raises essential questions:
“Where do our constraints and limitations come from?
And within them, how do we continue to dream of freedom?”
From the smallest of spaces, the artist sings the widest song of freedom.
