From page to screen: confronting the moment of goodbye

The best-selling novel that struck a chord with countless readers, “Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club For The Brokenhearted”, is finally making its way to the big screen.

A story that captures the universal feeling of “the love that has ended, but won’t quite let go”, the book has already left its mark in print. Now, in late 2025, audiences will see those emotions brought to life by an incredible cast and the delicate direction of filmmaker Lim Sunae.

Synopsis

“I’ve been dumped. Would you have breakfast with me?”

Two people who can’t seem to end their love stories—flight attendant Sagang and consultant Jihoon—find themselves at a mysterious Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club For The Brokenhearted. There, they accidentally swap “souvenirs of heartbreak” and set out on a journey to uncover the secrets behind them.

Sa-gang has just cut ties with her airline captain lover, Jungsu. Jihoon, meanwhile, has walked away from a decade-long relationship with Hyunjung. Both end up at the same table one morning, surrounded by strangers clutching relics of their failed romances.

In Sa-gang’s hands: an old film camera.

In Jihoon’s: a foreign edition of Françoise Sagan’s Bonjour Tristesse.

Hidden inside these mementos are truths, wounds, and memories that force them to face the one thing they’ve both avoided: the real goodbye.
