Hermann Hesse’s Spiritual Autobiography on Stage Narcissus and Goldmund — Now Playing in Seoul

Based on the novel by Hermann Hesse, the musical Narcissus and Goldmund has been captivating audiences since its opening on December 23, 2025.

The production run by SUMNAVIMUSICALCOMPANY is currently running at YES24 Art One Theater 2 through March 22, 2026.

At its core, the story follows two contrasting figures: Narcissus, a monk devoted to reason and discipline, and Goldmund, a wandering artist driven by instinct and emotion.

Their divergent paths form a quiet but powerful meditation on identity— how opposing ways of living collide, mirror each other, and ultimately converge.

Through lyrical music and refined stage aesthetics, the musical translates Hesse’s philosophical depth into an emotionally resonant theatrical experience—one that lingers long after the curtain falls.

Casting — A Matured Revival, Fully Realized

Returning cast members Yoo Seunghyun and Lim Byul (Narcissus), alongside Kang Chan (Goldmund), bring continuity and emotional weight to this third run, grounded in years of inhabiting the roles.

They are joined by new cast members Choi Hoseung and Ahn Jaeyoung (Narcissus), and Donghyun, Seohwan Kim, and Park Kyungho (Goldmund), each adding their own texture and interpretation to the characters.

The result is a season where familiarity and freshness coexist—allowing multiple emotional readings of the same story.

Creative Team — A Refined Theatrical Language

Director Yoon Sangwon and Music Director Yoo Hanna, whose collaboration was widely praised in previous seasons, reunite once again.

Together, they deepen the musical’s visual and sonic language, articulating the tension—and eventual harmony—between reason and emotion, faith and art, life and creation.
