In a quiet, imagined world called Mushbush, small, squishy creatures live slow, gentle lives. Among them is Toto Tomoshi, a mushroom fairy who helps the Earth breathe in silence. The creator of this world? Illustrator and art toy artist BIGZERO.

A Different Way of Seeing: Toto Tomoshi

Toto Tomoshi isn’t just a character — he’s the symbol of a long-held philosophy. Inspired by mushrooms, Toto may look fragile, but he plays a vital role: maintaining balance in a fragile ecosystem.

“Things that go unseen still have value,” the artist says. Toto is a reminder of all the quiet beings we overlook — but who quietly hold the world together.

Mist, Forests, and Tiny Lives

Mushbush doesn’t exist on any map, but it feels like it could be just beyond the trees. There’s always a little fog, and if you look closely, Toto Tomoshi might peek out from under a leaf.

They don’t rush. They nap on moss, sip dew off branches, and collect starlight to chat with their friends at night. To BIGZERO, this slow, invisible rhythm is where the real magic begins — a quiet world built by the ones we rarely notice.

 

Mushbush Was Born from the Sky

It all started with a cloud that looked like a mushroom. That moment sparked a whole universe — a playful yet deeply thoughtful vision of hidden life, of spirits and beings that are always present, even if we can’t see them. Toto Tomoshi was born soon after, and today, the character lives across art toys, ceramics, apparel, and accessories.

Painting a Storybook World

BIGZERO’s work feels like a page from a picture book. He paints with sponge-stamped acrylics, creating textured dreamscapes full of color and calm. Moments from real life — like staring out a bus window or walking a quiet alley — gently settle into his scenes.

Beyond a Brand: Mushbush as a Living World

Mushbush isn’t just a brand. It’s a growing subculture — a soft, connected art ecosystem. “Toto Tomoshi is a fairy who heals the world.” Each piece of merchandise is a standalone creation, and sometimes collaborations with other artists lead to full exhibitions. Mushbush lives, breathes, and evolves — just like its characters.

A Leap of Faith on a Night Bus in Egypt

When asked how it all began, BIGZERO says it started on a night bus in Egypt. “I wondered, if I had been born here… what kind of life would I be living?”

That question lit the first spark. When he returned to Korea, he found the courage to pursue what he truly loved — and Mushbush was born.

The Next Chapter

BIGZERO is currently working on a children’s book set in the Mushbush world. The script is finished, and the illustrations are in progress.

He dreams of one day sitting by a campfire, sharing beer and starlight stories with his mushroom fairies. Until then, he keeps quietly painting them into life.

 

Bonfires and Fairy Talk

If Toto Tomoshi came to life? BIGZERO smiles. “I’d take them camping. We’d sit by the fire and talk about everything and nothing.” That’s the charm of Mushbush —a fantasy world that gently touches the real one. And BIGZERO? He continues building it, one soft, silent dream at a time.
